58-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Victorville

 
VICTORVILLE, CA (November 11, 2023) – Felipe Avila was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Victorville Wednesday evening on November 8.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:13 p.m. along Amargosa Road, just between Mesa Street and Gabriel Road. The area is located west of the 15 Freeway and near Desert View Memorial Park. According to sheriff’s officials, a southbound full-size pickup truck struck Avila and fled the scene.
 
When deputies arrived, they found Avila on the roadway suffering from major injuries.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, Avila died at the scene. He was 58 years old from Hesperia.
 
Sheriff’s investigators are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect. They also believe the vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side view mirror.
 
The Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
