Speeding Leads to 3-Vehicle Crash on Arroyo Seco Parkway in Downtown LA Killing 1 Passenger
DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CA (February 27, 2022) – Ervin Pereira was killed in a three-vehicle accident near downtown Los Angeles, early Friday morning.
The accident happened around 2:00 a.m. on February 25 along the northbound Arroyo Seco Parkway, also known as 110 Freeway, just south of Stadium Way. According to the CHP, a 2009 Volkswagen CC was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when it lost control and veered toward the right side of the roadway. It then struck a wood/metal guardrail before colliding with a metal pole located within the right shoulder.
Two other vehicles were also involved, but no further details were available. One of the vehicles was mangled and overturned.
Pereira, a passenger in the overturned car, died at the scene. He was 29 years old, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Volkswagen CC was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
