Elio Bautista, Jr., Mother Dies, Isaiah Villegas Charged in DUI Pedestrian Crash on Wilshire Boulevard near Burlington Avenue

 
WESTLAKE, CA (November 21, 2023) — Elio Bautista, Jr. and his mother died in a DUI pedestrian accident on Wilshire Boulevard near Burlington Avenue.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the deadly crash happened around 5:20 p.m. Sunday. For DUI-related reasons, 31-year-old Isaiah Villegas lost control of his 2008 Cadillac CTS. While traveling at a high rate of speed, his vehicle struck a light pole and continued east before hitting a man and a woman walking toward Food 4 Less.
 
As a result of the accident, the man, identified later as 33-year-old Elio Bautista, Jr., died at the scene. His mother, a 63-year-old woman, passed away at a hospital. Officials have yet to release her name.
 
Following the accident, Villegas fled on foot, but officers detained him about a block away. At this time, the Los Angeles man is being held on $110,000 bail with suspicion of vehicular manslaughter charges.
