Fiery DUI Crash in Fresno County Kills One and Injures Several Others

 
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (October 21, 2024) – Eli Abram Lopez was killed in a fiery DUI crash in Fresno County late Saturday evening on October 19.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 11:00 p.m. at Manning Avenue and Hill Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Lopez was driving a Honda to Orange Cove to drop off his girlfriend. They were at a stop sign at the intersection when 24 year-old Jesus Zeferino failed to slow down and ran into the back of their car. Zeferino also crashed into a second vehicle.
 
The impact of the initial crash caused the Honda to catch fire.
 
Lopez suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was 27 years old. His girlfriend suffered major injuries.
 
Meanwhile, Zeferino sustained minor injuries. Three other men in his car were also hurt in the crash.

The two people in the second car are expected to be okay.

Officers later arrested Zeferino on suspicion of driving under the influence.
