UPDATE: Eda Rojas-Joachin Dies in Head-On Accident on Highway 43 near Panama Lane [Bakersfield, CA]

Eda Rojas-Joachin Killed in Bakersfield Head-On Crash on Highway 43

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 18, 2021) — One person died in a head-on accident on Highway 43 near Panama Lane Tuesday morning, August 10.
 
Coroner’s officials released that 48-year-old Eda Yadira Rojas-Joachin from Shafter died in the accident.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the car crash occurred around 5:00 a.m. For unknown reasons, a northbound 2010 Chevrolet entered the southbound lane. As a result, a southbound traveling 2004 Chevrolet veered to the left to avoid the imminent crash. However, the 2010 Chevy drifted toward the northbound lanes again, where both Chevys collided head-on.
 
Rojas-Joachin was a passenger in the 2004 Chevy. She suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
In the aftermath of the collision, a 48-year-old Shafter woman who was a passenger in the 2004 Chevy died at the scene. Her driver suffered minor injuries and received treatment at Kern Medical shortly after. Meanwhile, the 41-year-old Taft man operating the 2010 Chevy suffered minor injuries and sought his own care.
 
At this time, police have not confirmed the ultimate cause of the accident. However, if anyone has additional information, please contact the CHP.
