Woman Killed in DUI Pedestrian Accident on North 2nd Street near Oakdale Lane in El Cajon

 
EL CAJON, CA (July 29, 2022) – Police arrested a driver following a fatal pedestrian accident at the 600 block of North 2nd Street on July 27.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Oakdale Lane at approximately 8:50 PM.
 
Based on reports, a 20-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk when the 22-year-old man driving a 2006 Hyundai Sonata hit her. Subsequently, the suspect struck a traffic signal and a street light while continuing northbound. His vehicle came to a rest at 1300 Naranca Avenue.
 
Paramedics transported the woman by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital. She later died at the hospital. Her name was not yet available pending notification of her family.
 
In the end, officers arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of a narcotic controlled substance. They later on booked him into San Diego County Jail on multiple charges.
