SANTA MARIA, CA (July 29, 2022) – Police confirmed the death of a woman following a bicycle accident in the 1300 block of West Main Street on July 25.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened shortly after 5:00 AM.
 
Based on reports, the woman was riding a bicycle when she was struck by a vehicle. However, the details that led to the accident were not immediately available.
 
As a result, officers found the victim down in the roadway and suffering from critical injuries. Paramedics transported her to a hospital in a medical helicopter but she later died due to her injuries. Officials only identified her as a 38-year-old woman.
 
The vehicle driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
 
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. At this point, the investigation is ongoing.
