Motorist Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Highway 101 near Trimble Road

 
SAN JOSE, CA (December 20, 2021) – A driver was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Highway 101, early Sunday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 19, shortly after 1:00 a.m. A northbound 2010 Honda Accord reportedly spun out of control and slammed into the center median.
 
The impact of the accident caused the Honda to come to rest in the second lane. Then, the driver exited the vehicle and was hit by a passing vehicle near Trimble Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
However, the driver of the second vehicle did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
 
As per reports, three other vehicles collided with the Honda, but responders did not report any additional injuries.
 
Investigators believe that the hit-and-run vehicle was a Mercedes Benz C-Class. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
