Driver, Passenger Hurt in Head-On Accident on Freedom Boulevard in Watsonville

 
WATSONVILLE, CA (December 20, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in a head-on accident on Freedom Boulevard, Friday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on December 17 at about 4:15 p.m. For unknown reasons, a northbound white GMC Sierra Denali swerved. Then, the pickup collided head-on with a southbound black GMC Sierra in the 2900 block of Freedom Boulevard.
 
The impact of the crash trapped the male driver of the black GMC and his female passenger. Watsonville Fire and CalFire had to use Jaws of Life to extricate the trapped victims.
 
Then, CALSTAR air ambulances transported the victims to trauma centers for treatment of major injuries. Authorities did not release the names of the victims.
 
As per reports, responders had to shut down Freedom Boulevard for more than an hour to make way for an investigation.
 
Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
