Driver Dies in Two-Car Collision on Highway 59

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 18, 2021) — A driver died in a two-car crash on Highway 59 near Sandy Mush Road Saturday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle accident happened around 8:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a sedan heading northbound crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a pickup truck.
 
As a result, the driver of the sedan suffered fatal injuries. Soon after, paramedics responded and transported the driver of the truck to a hospital in Modesto.
 
At this time, detectives have not issued an explanation for the accident, but believe speed may have played a role. Although, any witnesses with information should reach out to the CHP.
