ATWATER, CA (January 2, 2024) — A driver died in a rollover accident on Highway 99 near Atwater Merced Expressway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal single-car crash happened Thursday around 4:50 a.m. For unknown reasons, a juvenile driver lost control of a southbound 2010 Dodge Charger at an unknown speed. Subsequently, the Dodge left the road and overturned.
 
Tragically, the driver died from serious injuries and the passenger — also a juvenile — was brought to a hospital for care. At the time of the report, police did not say if impairment played a role in the rollover accident. However, an investigation should confirm the details.
