Car Crashes on 805 Freeway in Chollas View Area Killing the Driver and Badly Injuring the Passenger

 
CHOLLAS VIEW, CA (October 18, 2023) – A driver died and a passenger was badly injured in car accident on 805 Freeway in the Chollas View area late Monday evening on October 16.
 
The fatal accident happened around 11:45 p.m. near Highway 94. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 63-year-old woman was driving a white Nissan Maxima with her female passenger. They were traveling northbound on 805 Freeway when the car swerved off the freeway.
 
The Nissan then went up an embankment and then slammed its roof into a sign pillar.
 
Both the driver and the passenger were trapped in the wreckage, prompting responding emergency crews to use the Jaws of Life tool in the rescue effort.
 
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger suffered major injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
