1 Dead in Multi-Vehicle Pileup Pleasant Hill on Highway 680 near Pleasant Hill Shopping Center

 
PLEASANT HILL, CA (January 7, 2024) – A driver died in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 680 near Pleasant Hill Shopping Center, Friday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on January 5, at about 9:52 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, southbound black Honda Pilot SUV struck the concrete center divider. Then, it became disabled in the traffic lanes.
 
A white Chevrolet 2500 pickup and a Tesla reportedly could not stop in time and collided with the Honda SUV near Concord Avenue.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene. Authorities did not release the identity of the victim.
 
No other injuries were reported.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers ask anyone with information to call CHP Contra Costa in Martinez at (925) 646-4980.
