Driver Dies in La Presa Head-On Crash on Jamacha Boulevard

LA PRESA, CA (September 1, 2021) — A driver died in a head-on accident on Jamacha Boulevard near San Diego Street Monday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-car crash happened around 9:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 53-year-old Vista man driving westbound in a Nissan Versa swerved into the eastbound lane. Subsequently, the Nissan collided with a Toyota Corolla, causing it to spin out and hit a parked Honda Accord.
 
Due to the force of the impact, the Nissan driver was ejected onto the road and died shortly after. His name has been withheld due to pending notification of family members.
 
Following the accident, paramedics arrived and took the 63-year-old San Diego man driving the Toyota to Scripps Mercy Hospital with major injuries.
 
At this time, whether DUI played a factor in the accident has not been confirmed. However, if anyone has information as to what drove the accident, please contact the CHP.
