Driver Dies in Fiery Big Rig Crash on 5 Freeway in San Joaquin County

 
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (July 7, 2023) — A driver died in a fiery big rig accident on the 5 Freeway near Walnut Grove Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 4:06 a.m. Friday. For an unknown reason, a driver of a Kia struck a big rig on the 5 Freeway. As a result of the impact, the Kia caught fire, and the driver died in the collision.
 
Due to the crash, police shut down the lanes for several hours. No other injuries occurred in the crash, but if anyone has more to share, please call the CHP.
