Driver Sustained Injuries in a Traffic Crash on Highway 101 near Arata Lane

WINDSOR, CA (September 29, 2022) — A driver suffered major injuries after a traffic accident on Highway 101 on Wednesday, September 28.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 11:00 a.m. just south of Arata Lane.

Officer David deRutte said a Caltrans truck was protecting a mower trimming vegetation in the center median. The Caltrans truck flashed amber lights, together with the mower that moved into the No. 1 lane to pass the bridge railing at Arata. Then a Toyota Corolla struck the rear of the Caltrans truck, the CHP said.

The driver of the Toyota suffered serious injuries. Paramedics transported the driver to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Officials have not released her name and only described her as a female resident of Geyserville.

Medics also rushed the driver of the Caltrans truck to the hospital after complaints of pain.

The incident temporarily backed up the northbound part of the highway for about two hours. CHP reopened all lanes by 1:40 p.m.
