Fatal Big Rig Accident on 10 Freeway near Morongo Trail in Cabazon

 
CABAZON, CA (October 12, 2022) – A driver died in a big rig accident on 10 Freeway on Tuesday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on October 11 at about 1:45 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a sedan and a tractor-trailer collided just east of Morongo Trail.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the driver of the sedan dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the big rig remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders temporarily closed three of four lanes to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
CHP believes that speed was a factor in the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
