Diego Ramirez Killed in Head-On Accident on Highway 223 [Arvin, CA]

Man Dies after Head-On Crash with Semi Truck on Highway 223 near Tower Line Road

 
ARVIN, CA (January 15, 2023) – Diego Armando Ramirez was killed in a head-on crash in Arvin late Thursday afternoon on July 12.
 
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m., just east of Tower Line Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Ramirez was driving a 2018 Mazda SUV westbound on the highway when he made an unsafe left turn for unknown reasons. He then turned into the path of a 2022 Peterbilt semi-tractor which was heading eastbound.
 
The driver of the semi, 31-year-old Joshua Goreham, attempted to evade the SUV, but was unable to, resulting in a head-on crash.
 
Ramirez, a 27-year-old Arvin resident, died at the scene. Goreham was unharmed.
 
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, ,which is still under investigation. The CHP Bakersfield Area Office urged anyone with further information to call tem at 661-396-6600.
