Deputy Injured after Gardena Crash with Hit-and-Run Motorist at Van Ness Avenue and Marine Avenue

 
GARDENA, CA (September 27, 2022) – A sheriff’s deputy was injured in a hit-and-run crash at Van Ness Avenue and Marine Avenue early Sunday morning.
 
The crash happened around 4:50 a.m. on September 25. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy was in his patrol SUV when a silver Kia collided with his car.
 
Paramedics rushed the deputy, who was the lone occupant inside the SUV, to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Kia fled the scene on foot after the crash.
 
The deputy’s cruiser had serious damage to the front-end driver’s side. The Kia also sustained damage.
 
An investigation is underway. The sheriff’s South Los Angeles station urged anyone with information about the crash to call them at 323-820-6700.
