DUI Crash on Cesar Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights Leaves Delivery Driver’s Leg Severed

 
BOYLE HEIGHTS, CA (October 30, 2023) – A delivery truck driver lost a leg after he was struck by a DUI driver on Cesar Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights Saturday morning on October 28.
 
The crash happened around 5:00 a.m. near Mott Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the victim was standing at the back of his double-parked vehicle and was loading the truck when a vehicle struck him.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed the victim to a hospital, where he had stable vital signs following surgery.
 
The victim’s leg was severed from the crash.
 
The DUI suspect was taken into custody, but his identity was not immediately released.
 
Further investigation is underway.
