Police Arrest David Alvarez for Vehicular Manslaughter and Hit-and-Run Charges after Fatal Bakersfield Crash

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 30, 2022) – Police arrested David Alvarez after a fatal hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield on Saturday evening.
 
The crash happened around 8:41 p.m. on May 28 at Alfred Harrell Highway. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the 28-year-old suspect was driving a pickup truck westbound on the highway. At the same time, a woman was driving southbound on Alfred Harrell Highway.
 
The two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing major injuries on the woman.
 
First responders tried saving the woman, but the unidentified victim died at the scene.
 
Alvarez ran away from the crash site but was later located by police. He was arrested and booked Sunday into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run charges.
 
Police urged anyone with further information about the crash to call them at 661-327-7111.
