Driver Changing Tire on Highway 54 in National City Dies after Struck by Car

 
NATIONAL CITY, CA (April 11, 2022) – Dave Post died after being hit by a car while changing his tire on Highway 54 in National City on Thursday night.
 
The fatal incident happened just before 6:00 p.m. on April 7, near the Highland Avenue exit. According to the California Highway Patrol, Post had pulled over in the center median of the highway to fix his blue Toyota Scion’s wheel. As he was changing the tire, a Mazda traveling eastbound struck him.
 
Responding paramedics rushed Post to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was a 22-year-old San Diego resident.
 
The driver of the Mazda remained on scene and cooperated with CHP officers.
 
Drugs or alcohol are not considered factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.
