Danna Forbis Killed in Car Accident on Highway 70 [Plumas County, CA]

Danna Forbis Dead, Leonard Forbis and Deborah Castillo Injured in Plumas County Car Accident

 
PLUMAS COUNTY, CA (July 25, 2022) – Authorities identified 33-year-old Danna Forbis of Reno, Nevada as the victim killed in a car crash on Highway 70 on Tuesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 19 at about 12:01 p.m. For reasons still under investigation, a 2001 Subaru Legacy crossed the solid, double-yellow lines between the eastbound and westbound lanes.
 
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Leonard Forbis, immediately steered to the right and entered the dirt shoulder near Sierra Springs Drive. After that, he overcorrected to the left and spun across both lanes of the highway.
 
As per reports, the Subaru went airborne and crashed into a large pine tree before coming to rest on its side.
 
Emergency crews had to cut Leonard Forbis free from the wreck, while one passenger, 34-year-old Deborah Castillo was able to exit the vehicle on her own.
 
A Careflight Helicopter transported Leonard Forbis to Renown Health, while Castillo was taken by a ground ambulance.
 
Paramedics pronounced the second passenger, Danna Forbis, dead at the scene.
 
Authorities later arrested Leonard Forbis on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and manslaughter.
