16-Year-Old Danielle Lopez Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 680 Freeway

 
SAN JOSE, CA (October 25, 2022) – Authorities identified 16-year-old Danielle Lopez of San Jose as the pedestrian killed in an accident on 680 Freeway, early Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on October 3, shortly after midnight. For reasons still under investigation, a GMC Canyon hit the teenager near Jackson Avenue.
 
Then, at least four more vehicles struck Lopez. One of the vehicles, described as a Scion hatchback, reportedly overturned after attempting to avoid the pedestrian.
 
Emergency crews pronounced Lopez dead at the scene.
 
Officers did not release information about the drivers involved.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Investigators ask witnesses or anyone who knows why Lopez was walking on 680 Freeway to contact CHP San Jose at (408) 961-0900.
