Head-On Crash on Highway 4 near Telegraph Road Kills 3 People

 
CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA (September 16, 2023) – Danielle Bologna, Francesca Bologna and Jose Luis Garcia Jr. were killed in a head-on crash in Calaveras County Friday evening on September 8.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Highway 4 near Telegraph Road, just west of Copperopolis. According to the CHP, Garcia was driving a 2020 Honda eastbound at a high rate of speed when he traveled into the westbound lanes.
 
The Honda went directly into the path of a 2020 Lexus heading westbound at about 60 mph. The two vehicles then collided head-on.
 
The three victims were all occupants of the Honda. All of them died at the scene. Danielle Bologna was 62 years old from San Francisco, her daughter Francesca was 25, and Garcia was 25 years old from San Mateo, according to the Calaveras County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Lexus, 37-year-old Quang Tran, and his two juvenile passengers, 2-year-old Ava Tran and 4-year-old Ana Tran, suffered moderate injuries.

Three other passengers in the Lexus, 30-year-old Hang Nguyen, Chi Tran and No Nguyen, both 72, suffered major injuries.

All six occupants of the Lexus were San Jose residents.

Tran and his family were on their way home from a trip to Yosemite.

No one was arrested. The crash remains under investigation.
