3 Injured, DUI Driver Crashes Car Into Pole at Crenshaw Boulevard in Hyde Park

 
HYDE PARK, CA (March 12, 2024) — Two children were among those injured when a DUI driver crashed a car into a pole at Crenshaw Boulevard and 52nd Street.
 
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the single-car accident happened around 2:00 a.m. Sunday. For DUI-related reasons, an unidentified man crashed a dark-colored sedan into a pole at the intersection. Subsequently, the male driver attempted to flee, nearly leaving behind a 7-year-old child, the mother, and a 5-month-old baby.
 
Soon after, LAPD and Los Angeles Fire paramedics arrived at the scene and rushed the infant to a hospital in critical condition. Reports could not confirm the condition of the mother and the 7-year-old, however.
 
At some point after the crash, police arrested the driver — who might have been the father — on suspicion of felony DUI.
