Pedestrian Cheryl Bowling Hit, Killed by Truck in Oildale

 
OILDALE, CA (April 28, 2022) – One person was killed in a pedestrian accident on Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop in Oildale on Monday evening.
 
The Kern County coroner’s office identified the pedestrian as 63-year-old Cheryl Ann Bowling of Bakersfield.
 
The accident happened just before 8:00 p.m. on April 25. According to the California Highway Patrol, Bowling was crossing the street in her wheelchair on a green light when she was hit by a truck turning right.
 
After the crash, the driver stopped and called 911.
 
Medical personnel transferred Bowling to Kern Medical, but she died from her injuries a short time later at 8:31 p.m.
 
Officials with the California Highway Patrol said there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were involved. In addition, speed was not a factor, either. However, an investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
