Passenger Carlton Keegan Dies after Car Crashes Down Embankment in Santa Cruz Mountains

 
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA (April 1, 2022) – Carlton Keegan died in a car accident on Granite Creek Road in the Santa Cruz mountains on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The fatal accident happened around 3:41 p.m. on March 30 in the 300 block of Granite Creek Road. The 17-year-old victim from Scotts Valley was a passenger in a 2006 Subaru Outback. The car was traveling northbound when it veered off the roadway for unknown reasons.
 
It then flew off an embankment, crashed into a tree and landed on its roof.
 
Keegan suffered major injuries from the crash. Arriving units rushed him to Dominican Hospital, where he later died. The 18-year-old driver only had minor injuries.
 
The California Highway Patrol are still investigating if drugs or alcohol was involved. They added no arrests are being made at this time.
