Braden Jockmyhn Dies after Daniel Corona Crashes into La Mesa Building

 
LA MESA, CA (September 17, 2021) — A man died after a DUI suspect crashed an SUV into an adult day-care facility on University Avenue near Yale Avenue on July 28.
 
According to police, 41-year-old Braden Jockmyhn worked at Golden Life Adult Day Healthcare when the vehicle crashed into the building.
 
Police booked 61-year-old Daniel Joseph Corona of La Mesa into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, and transportation and possession of a narcotic for sale. He is accused of driving while high on fentanyl and methamphetamine. However, Corona pleaded not guilty to felony gross vehicular manslaughter and possession of controlled substances for distribution.
 
According to the La Mesa Police, Corona was headed east in the 7300 block of University Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the roadway. It crossed a sidewalk and smashed into a commercial building housing Golden Life ADHC Center.
 
Jockmyhn was in his office when Corona drove into the building. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Paramedics transported Corona to a hospital with injuries. Reports state he broke his back in the crash.
 
At this time, the La Mesa Police are investigating.
