Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Two Vehicles in San Luis Obispo, One Driver Arrested for Hit-and-Run

 
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (February 13, 2023) – A bicyclist died and Jorge Eduardo Torres was arrested after a hit-and-run crash in San Luis Obispo on Saturday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:01 p.m. on February 11, at the intersection of South Higuera Street and Prado Road. Police said the 23-year-old man was riding his bicycle when a vehicle struck him.
 
After the initial crash, a second vehicle also struck him.
 
When first responder arrived, they declared the bicyclist dead at the scene.
 
Torres, 19, was the driver of the first vehicle. He drove away without rendering aid.
 
The second driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers. Police determined that drugs and alcohol were not a factor with that driver.
 
Meanwhile, police were able to find the Torres’ vehicle at a nearby residence. They arrested the suspect with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges.
