Police Arrest Jonathan Ocampo after Deadly Hit-and-Run in Fullerton
FULLERTON, CA (August 21, 2022) – A bicyclist died and police arrested Jonathan Ocampo after a hit-and-run crash in Fullerton on Thursday morning, August 18.
The fatal crash happened around 5:07 a.m. at Chapman Avenue and Ladera Vista Drive. According to the Fullerton Police Department, the 67-year-old man was riding his bicycle when a green 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck struck him.
When officers arrived, they found the victim in a brick planter on the north side of the street. The involved driver did not stop.
Paramedics rushed the victim to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A witness followed the suspect vehicle and driver to Delphine Place and Jacaranda Place, where the driver got out and ran away.
Ocampo, a 21-year-old Anaheim resident, later turned himself in. Police arrested him for felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. He is being held on $500,000 bail.
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
