30-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Big Rig on 5 Freeway in Anderson

 
ANDERSON, CA (January 2, 2025) – Patrick Daryl Dudek was hit and killed by a big rig in Anderson Sunday evening on December 29.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m. on 5 Freeway near Riverside Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Dudek reportedly walked or ran into the path of a northbound big rig.
 
The driver of the big rig was unable to stop in time and struck him.
 
Dudek suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. He was a 30-year-old Redding resident, according to the Shasta County Coroner.
 
Crews closed two freeway lanes for several hours while they worked on the scene.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
