Man on Bicycle Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Vehicle on Pearl Street in East Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 2, 2022) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Pearl Street in East Bakersfield on Monday morning, August 1.
 
Just before 8:00 a.m., CHP officers received a report of a man down in the alleyway north of Pearl Street near Robinson Street. When they arrived, they found the man dead in the alley.
 
During the preliminary investigation, officers learned that the man in his 40s was riding his bicycle westbound in the alleyway when a vehicle struck him. After striking the victim, the vehicle fled the scene.
 
At this time, the identity of the bicyclist was not immediately available. The hit-and-run suspect remains at large.
 
The California Highway Patrol Bakersfield Office is still investigating the fatality. They urged witnesses to call them at 661-396-6660.
