Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Rosecrans Avenue in Hawthorne

 
HAWTHORNE, CA (April 30, 2023) – A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash at Rosecrans Avenue and Cerise Avenue in Hawthorne Thursday evening on April 27.
 
According to the Hawthorne Police Department, a black newer-model Nissan SUV that was traveling westbound on Rosecrans Avenue struck the bicyclist around 8:45 p.m. The driver of the SUV then fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Responding paramedics performed life-saving aid on the bicyclist, but the victim died at the scene.
 
The victim’s identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
An anonymous caller alerted police that the vehicle in question was parked in an underground parking structure in the 14100 block of Cerise Avenue.
 
Police later located the hit-and-run suspect, a 21-year-old man, and arrested him.
