Police Arrest Bus Driver for Hit-and-Run after Striking Bicyclist in Ventura

 
VENTURA, CA (September 27, 2023) – A bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Telegraph Road in Ventura Thursday morning on September 21.
 
The crash happened just before 10:00 a.m. near Joanne Avenue. According to the Ventura Police Department, the 64-year-old bicyclist from Goleta had been riding along Telegraph Road when a Ventura County Transportation commission bus passed him.
 
During the overtake, the bus hit the bike’s handlebars, sending the cyclist to the ground. The bus’s rear wheels then ran over the man.
 
After the crash, the bus driver continued its route without stopping to render aid.
 
The bicyclist suffered major injuries to his lower body.
 
Police later found the bus and its driver, identified as 33-year-old Edgar Landeros of Oxnard. They arrested Landeros on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The driver has since been released from jail on a bail bond. He is expected to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on October 5, jail records show.
