Baljit Sindhu, Tammy Thompson, Banjinder Singh Hospitalized, 2 Big Rigs Collide on Highway 36 near Highway 89

 
LASSEN COUNTY, CA (March 16, 2023) — Baljit Sindhu and two others reported injuries after two big rigs crashed on Highway 36 near Highway 89.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck accident happened just before 6:00 a.m. Monday. For reasons related to icy road conditions, Baljit Sindhu, of Elk Grove, lost control of his tractor-trailer hauling paint near Poison Lake. His big rig subsequently jackknifed and crashed into a snow berm blocking the highway. Due to the impact, his truck saddle tank spilled over 120 gallons of diesel onto the highway.
 
Shortly after, Tammy Thompson, of New Orleans, came around the scene in her Peterbilt tractor truck but was unable to stop, thus colliding into the first big rig.
 
Following the accident CALFIRE, Shasta County Fire, Cal Trans and the CHP responded to the scene and found Sindhu complaining of pain, as well as his passenger Banjinder Singh who reported major injuries. Thompson also reported pain.
 
Paramedics brought all three patients to Banner Lassen Medical Center for treatment.
 
As a result of the crash, officials closed the road from Highway 36 in Susanville to Highway 89 at Old Station. By 11:05 a.m., crews reopened the area.
