Azucena Perez, Harold Liberty IV Die in Wrong-Way Crash on 580 Freeway near Corral Hollow Road

 
TRACY, CA (April 2, 2024) — Azucena Perez died in a wrong-way accident on the 580 Freeway near Corral Hollow Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal 2-car crash happened around 2:00 a.m. Sunday. For an unknown reason, Harold Liberty IV was driving his Honda Accord in the wrong direction on the 580 West Freeway. Subsequently, his vehicle collided with an oncoming Kia driven by 32-year-old Azucena Perez. Upon impact, 19-year-old Liberty was thrown from his car, striking the center median. Due to his injuries, he passed away at the scene.
 
Minutes later, paramedics arrived and took Perez to San Joaquin General Hospital where she later passed away. As for the surviving patients, a 2-month-old girl and a 35-year-old man reported major injuries and a 4-year-old boy reported minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that these surviving occupants were in the Kia.
 
At this time, CHP officers have not confirmed if the Honda driver was under the influence of alcohol. However, an investigation into the crash should confirm the details.
