Ashley Waters Shot and Killed, 2 Dead in Fiery Accident near Davis Street and Preda Street

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (June 14, 2023) — Ashley Waters was shot dead before two suspects, possibly involved in the shooting, died in a fiery crash near Davis Street and Preda Street.
 
According to Manteca police officers, the incident happened around 10:00 p.m. Sunday. Officers learned that a woman, later identified as Ashley Waters, died from a gunshot wound in the 1300 block of West Yosemite Avenue. Investigators learned that someone shot her while she was picking up her boyfriend.
 
Following the incident, police received a license plate number and sent law enforcement officers into the area to search for the vehicle tied to the shooting. Once California Highway Patrol officers spotted the car, a chase followed.
 
A few moments later, the vehicle crashed into a tree after swerving to avoid a spike strip on Davis Street near Preda Street.
 
Officers found the driver and a front-seat passenger of the car unresponsive and freed a 14-year-old in the backseat. For an unknown reason, the car burst into flames, but officers were too late to rescue the driver and passenger.
 
Authorities soon learned that the suspect vehicle was stolen from Oakland. Because the crash and shooting lack detailed information, traffic investigators will examine this case more closely. If anyone knows anything about this crash, please call the authorities.
