Pickup Truck Crashes on Churn Creek Road in Redding Killing the Driver
REDDING, CA (June 14, 2023) – One person died in a car accident on Churn Creek Road in Redding Monday on June 12.
The fatal accident happened just south of Dana Drive. According to the Redding Police Department, a GMC Sierra 1500 pickup was traveling northbound on Churn Creek Road, north of Presidio Street at an unknown speed. The driver was unable to make the turn of the Chum Creek Road overcrossing of Highway 44 and collided into a metal guardrail located on the west side of the roadway.
During the crash, the driver was partially ejected from the pickup and died at the scene. They were not wearing a seat belt.
A passenger in the pickup was able to exit from the vehicle and was unharmed.
Crews closed the Churn Creek Road for several hours while they cleared the wreckage.
Police said alcohol and speed are factors in the crash. They urged anyone with further information to contact the Redding Police Department Traffic Unit.
