Ashley Godinez Among 2 Dead, Toddler Hospitalized in Head-On Collision on Dillard Road near Highway 99

 
ELK GROVE, CA (June 22, 2023) — Ashley Godinez and another driver died in a head-on accident on Dillard Road near Highway 99.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento division, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.
 
Authorities believe a man driving a westbound Nissan Rogue on Dillard Road was following too closely to other cars and making unsafe passing attempts. As the man used the eastbound lane, making an unsafe turning movement, an eastbound Nissan Altima driver tried to swerve to avoid the imminent crash.
 
However, both drivers swerved to avoid the crash but ended up colliding head-on.
 
CHP officers confirmed that the Rogue driver was not wearing his seatbelt and died in the accident. The 37-year-old female Altima driver, identified as Ashley Godinez, passed away, as well. A 2-year-old sitting in the same car suffered major injuries in the crash, but paramedics say the child is expected to survive.
 
At this time, the name of the man who passed away is unavailable, but the County coroner will reveal his identity once family members are notified.
