Aristeo Castro Dead in Mendota Head-On Car Crash

 
MENDOTA, CA (February 18, 2021) — One person was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 180 near Highway 33.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision happened around 11:15 a.m. on Highway 180 near Sonoma Avenue.
 
73-year-old Aristeo Castro of Mendota died at the scene of the crash Monday. The city of Mendota has confirmed Castro is the grandfather of Mendota Mayor Rolando Castro.
 
For unknown reasons, a Ford F-150 heading westbound on Highway 180 blew out a tire. As a result, the driver of the Ford lost control of the wheel and veered into the eastbound lanes. The Ford struck a Honda Civic head-on, killing Honda driver Castro.
