Lyft Driver Andy Pham Accused of Falling Asleep in Fatal Tustin Crash Killing Passenger

 
TUSTIN, CA (July 25, 2021)Andy Van Pham was arrested after a fatal DUI accident three months ago in Tustin.
 
The accident happened around 7:00 a.m. on April 4, near Jamboree Road and Patriot Way. According to the Tustin Police Department, the 30-year-old suspect was driving his vehicle when he fell asleep. He then crashed into a light pole.
 
As a result, the passenger, identified as 70-year-old Margie Quibol of Tustin, died at the scene.
 
On Wednesday, July 21, police arrested Pham for vehicle manslaughter charge, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false information to a police officer, and making an unsafe turn or lane change.
 
Pham pleaded not guilty on Friday, July 23. He was fired from Lyft and the company said in a statement it would assist law enforcement authorities however it can.
 
Pham was ordered to return to court August 9 for a pretrial hearing in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
