Coroner Identifies Woman Killed in Cerritos Wrong-Way Crash on 605 Freeway

 
CERRITOS, CA (February 22, 2022) – Alyssa Aragon-Ramirez died in a wrong-way accident on 605 Freeway in Cerritos on Friday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:30 a.m. on February 18 at South Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2021 Hyundai Elantra was traveling northbound on the freeway when it made an illegal U-turn and swerved into the wrong direction.
 
It then proceeded northbound in the southbound freeway and collided head-on into a 2017 Honda Civic, driven by Aragon-Ramirez. The impact caused both cars to catch fire.
 
A good Samaritan pulled Aragon-Ramirez from her car, but she died at the scene. She was a 26-year-old El Monte resident.
 
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles man driving the Hyundai was trapped in his car. He also died at the scene.
