Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Woman for DUI after Crashing Car into Tree with 2-Year-Old Child Inside

 
MERCED, CA (November 7, 2022) – Police arrested Alexandra Ramirez after a DUI crash in Merced Friday evening on November 4.
 
The crash happened in the 200 block of East 21st Street. According to the Merced Police Department, the 22-year-old suspect was driving a vehicle with an improperly restrained 2-year-old child inside. The vehicle had struck a tree and overturned on its roof.
 
The child did not suffer serious injuries, police said.
 
Ramirez told officers that she fell asleep at the wheel. She was arrested for felony DUI causing injury, felony hit and run, and felony child endangerment. She was taken into the Merced County Jail with bond was set at $220,360, according to jail reports.
 
An investigation into this crash is ongoing.
