Grandfather Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (January 9, 2024)Alberto Castaneda Aco died in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles Wednesday on January 3.
 
The fatal crash happened near the intersection of Adams Boulevard and Main Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, several suspects in a stolen Infiniti ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle.
 
After the initial crash, the driver of the Infiniti lost control and struck Aco who was walking home from work.
 
A witness said two men and two women then got out of the car and ran, taking a Nitrous Oxide tank with them.
 
Paramedics arrived and rushed Arco to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Arco was 72 years old. He was an avid boxer as a young man in Mexico. He was also a father of five and grandfather of eight.
