Adriana Gamez Hit, Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 23, 2022) — A woman died after a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 on Sunday, August 7.
 
The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 22-year-old Adriana Gamez of Bakersfield.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Highway 99 near the Planz Road over-crossing. CHP officers said they received reports of Gamez standing in a lane on Highway 99, south of Highway 58 shortly before 4:00 a.m. As units rushed to the scene, they learned a vehicle struck the pedestrian.
 
An initial investigation determined that for unknown reasons, Gamez walked in a lane and into the path of a Honda. The car attempted to veer to the left to prevent hitting her. However, the right side of the vehicle still hit Gamez.
 
Emergency responders then rushed her to Kern Medical where she died.
 
CHP said that alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed as a factor in the crash. However, the crash is still under investigation.
