Crash Involving Upland Police Officers Kills 35-Year-Old Adam Ulrich

 
UPLAND, CA (March 13, 2024)Adam Ulrich died and two police officers were injured after a traffic accident on 2nd Avenue in downtown Upland early Monday morning on March 11.
 
At around 1:00 a.m., an Upland police officer saw a car heading west on 9th Street near Grove Avenue. They attempted to stop the vehicle when they saw it was missing its front license plate. However, the car sped off at 100 mph. The officer did not give chase but put out an alert to other officers in the area.
 
The car was spotted again as it entered the downtown area. The driver lost control at the intersection of 9th Street and 3rd Avenue. He then crashed into a tree near the gazebo on 2nd Avenue.
 
The impact caused the car to catch fire and the driver was ejected.

Ulrich, a 35-year-old Victorville resident, was the driver of the car. He died at the scene.

The two officers sustained minor burn injuries.

The crash also caused minor damage to the city’s historic gazebo ahead of the Irish Festival March 16-17.

The tree the car hit had too much damage, police said.

The Upland Police Department is handling the investigation.
