Elderly Man Dies after Struck by Minivan on Marcuse Street in Alameda

 
ALAMEDA, CA (February 10, 2023) – An 84-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian accident at Marcuse Street and Mecartney Road in Alameda on Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 7:30 a.m. on February 7 in the city’s Bay Farm Island. According to the CHP, the man had been crossing an unmarked intersection at Marcuse Street when a Chrysler Town & Country minivan traveling along Mecartney Road struck him.
 
When officers arrived, they found the pedestrian suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau withheld the victim’s identity at this time.
 
The Chrysler’s driver, a 63-year-old Alameda resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
Neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
