Elderly Woman in Motorized Wheelchair Sustains Broken Leg after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Hillcrest

 
HILLCREST, CA (June 27, 2023) – An 82-year-old woman was injured in a hit-and-run crash near University Avenue and Sixth Avenue in the Hillcrest area of San Diego on Friday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 4:50 p.m. on June 23. According to the San Diego Police Department, the woman in a motorized wheelchair was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle struck her.
 
After striking the victim, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
The elderly woman suffered a broken leg as a result of the crash. First responders rushed her to a hospital for treatment.
 
Police said the hit-and-run suspect was driving an older, lifted black truck.
