Josefa Blandon Dead, Officer Chase Wilson Involved in Merced Pedestrian Accident

 
MERCED, CA (April 11, 2022) — 82-year-old Josefa Blandon died in a pedestrian accident on G Street at 16th Street on Thursday night.
 
According to authorities, the fatal pedestrian crash happened around 10:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, Officer Chase Wilson hit Blandon who tried crossing outside of a marked crosswalk.
 
According to surveillance footage, Wilson — a five-year veteran of the Merced Police Department — stopped immediately after the crash.
 
However, Blandon suffered severe injuries in the crash and died moments after.
 
At this time, the family created a GoFundMe page to get more help with funeral costs.
